This 1,342 page Adobe Acrobat book (i.e. digital only) illustrates the insignia of the past and present police forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales. Also included are the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands (which are British Crown dependencies and not formally part of the UK). The southern part of Ireland became quasi-independent of the UK in 1922; so southern Irish police forces after that date are not included.

This is an Adobe Acrobat book (i.e. digital only) about the known police forces in England and Wales since the eighteenth century. The police forces of the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are also included. The origins of place names, local coats of arms (and/or seals), historical officer numbers (including 2025 Home Office figures released on 23 July 2025), dates and known chief officers are detailed as far as possible - plus, of course, the insignia and photographs.
There are 3342 pages plus the cover page shown above, over 8,600 pictures and 600,000+ words.
